Murder Has Two Faces is a 2025 true crime documentary series from Lisa Cortés and Robin Roberts that turns the spotlight toward cases the media largely overlooked. Each story centers on a haunting pattern: while one crime dominated headlines, another strikingly similar case received little public attention. The series asks why some victims become nationally known while others remain almost invisible.

Produced for ABC News Studios by Cortés Filmworks and Blue Ant Studios, the project approaches true crime through a social justice lens. Rather than focusing only on the crimes themselves, the series examines the systems and biases that influence which stories are amplified and which are sidelined. It challenges the idea that media coverage is purely driven by circumstance, instead suggesting that perception, identity, and narrative appeal often shape public awareness.

The series features interviews with friends and family members who fought to keep their loved ones’ stories from disappearing. Their perspectives highlight the emotional toll of not only loss, but also neglect — the feeling that justice is harder to reach when attention fades. The filmmakers also explore parallels between the lesser-known cases and their widely publicized counterparts, revealing unsettling similarities.

With Robin Roberts guiding the storytelling, the series brings national visibility to lives that were once pushed to the margins. Murder Has Two Faces ultimately becomes more than a true crime series; it’s an examination of who is seen, who is heard, and how recognition itself can shape the path toward justice.
