Buried Evidence

Some of history's most astonishing discoveries didn't come from ancient texts or long-lost maps - they came from the ground itself. Buried Evidence, a Blue Ant Studios series airing on Smithsonian Channel, digs into the archaeological finds that have upended what we thought we knew about the past, from legendary treasures to lost temples and cursed graves.

Each episode covers three separate discoveries, moving at a brisk, forensic pace as historians and scientists piece together what the evidence really means. Stunning 3D reconstructions do a lot of the heavy lifting here, peeling back centuries of soil and decay to rebuild ancient sites in vivid detail and drop viewers right into the middle of the dig.

Buried Evidence is a 10-episode series produced by Blue Ant Studios, pairing archaeological discovery with 3D reconstruction to explore how the past continues to reshape the present.

What sets the series apart is its refusal to treat these finds as static museum pieces. Every artifact, tomb, or ruin gets treated as a live clue in an ongoing investigation - evidence that's still actively changing our understanding of ancient civilizations, rather than settled history sitting behind glass.

The series airs new episodes Thursdays at 9pm ET/PT on Smithsonian Channel in Canada, following its spring 2026 premiere, part of a broader wave of history programming from Blue Ant Studios that also includes History Unsolved: The Investigation Files.

Buried Evidence is ultimately a reminder that the ground beneath us is still full of surprises - and that archaeology, done right, can feel just as suspenseful as any modern investigation.
